US Passport Requirements, Validity

Your passport must meet the following requirements before being accepted for visa processing at the Chinese consulate.

  • Undamaged - Faded is okay, but cannot be chewed or torn, or missing pages.
  • You must have at least two free visa pages in the back, pages 23 + 24 do not count as free visa pages.
  • Passport must be valid for at least six-months beyond your expected return date.
  • If non-US Citizen, please provide photocopy of your US Visa or Perm. Res. Card.
  • If your name has changed due to marriage, and your invitation documents reflect your previous passsport information. You need to provide a photocopy of your previous passport.
  • If you have a new passport, but your old passport has former visas to China, make a copy of the old passport data page and one of your previous visas in order to get a multiple-entry visa with your new passport.
